US Airways posts $7 million operating income for April

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 26 - US Airways Group Inc. reported operating income of $7 million for April on sales of $641.92 million, according to its monthly operating reported filed Thursday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Operating income for March was $19.27 million.

The net loss for April was $30.63 million, compared to net income of $65.08 in March, which it attributed to the termination of its three defined benefit retirement plans that month.

Cash and cash equivalents on April 30 were $535.68 million, up from $512.52 million as of March 31.

The Arlington, Va.-based airline filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 12, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-13819.
