United Retail sees $566,000 operating loss for May on zero sales

Charlotte, N.C., June 15 - United Retail Group, Inc. reported a $566,000 operating loss for May on zero in total revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The May loss from continuing operations was $56.0 million.

In comparison, the company posted a $337,000 operating loss for April on $10.76 million in total revenues. The April loss from continuing operations was $99.17 million.

The company had cash and cash equivalents of $2.7 million at May 31, down from $4.19 million at April 30.

United Retail is a Rochelle Park, N.J., specialty retailer of large-size women's fashion apparel, footwear and accessories. The company filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 1. The Chapter 11 case number is 12-10405.
