S&P: Airlines unaffected

Standard & Poor's said the apparent terrorist attacks in London will likely hurt the trans-Atlantic business of selected U.S. airlines, but, barring further incidents, is not expected to have implications for ratings or outlooks of those companies.

The principal U.S. airlines serving London are American Airlines Inc. (B-/stable), United Air Lines Inc. (D) and Continental Airlines Inc. (B-/negative/B-3) and London is in each case their largest single European destination, the agency said.

S&P said the implications of the attacks could evolve if there are further incidents or serious threats, or if the attacks have adverse effects on economic health or raise oil prices.
