UAL seeks extension to exclusive periods to file plan, solicit votes

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, June 6 - UAL Corp. requested an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The company wants to extend its exclusive period to file a plan to Sept. 1 from July 1 and to solicit votes to Nov. 1 from Sept. 1.

UAL said it needs the extension because it has been busy with pension and labor cost negotiations and, although these negotiations are complete, it has not had time to formulate a plan of reorganization.

A hearing is scheduled for June 17.

The Chicago-based parent of United Air Lines filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 9, 2002. Its Chapter 11 case number is 02-48191.
