Former Urban Brands' 54 bankruptcy cases are decreed closed by court

By Jim Witters

Wilmington, Del., May 21 - The 54 bankruptcy cases of UBI Liquidating Corp., formerly Urban Brands Inc., were closed Friday by a decree from judge Kevin J. Carey filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The order leaves open only the case involving UBI Liquidating.

Any remaining claims filed against any of the debtors will be handled as though filed against the liquidating trust.

As previously reported, the debtors sold their assets to New Ashley Stewart, LLC and GB Merchant Partners, LLC on Oct. 29, 2010.

The company's Chapter 11 plan received court confirmation on Oct. 19, 2011 and became effective on Dec. 1, 2011.

"There are no motions, contested matters or adversary proceedings that remain unresolved in the Chapter 11 cases for those 54 debtors," court documents state.

Urban Brands, a Secaucus, N.J.-based plus-sized apparel retailer, filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 21, 2010. Its Chapter 11 case number is 10-13005.
