Tropicana asks court to dismiss Aztar bankruptcy case

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Nov. 12 - Tropicana Entertainment LLC asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to dismiss the Chapter 11 bankruptcy case of its Aztar Indiana Gaming Co. LLC debtor upon the closing of the sale of Tropicana's Evansville assets, according to a Wednesday court filing.

According to the motion, the sale of the Evansville, Ind., assets is structured as a sale of the membership interests in Aztar Indiana Gaming.

As a result, the company is asking the court to dismiss Aztar's case to facilitate the sale.

Tropicana, a Fort Mitchell, Ky.-based gaming entertainment provider, filed for bankruptcy on May 5, 2008. The Chapter 11 case number is 08-10856.
