TriQuint repurchased $48.5 million 4% convertibles, looking to buy back more

New York, March 27 - TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc. said it bought back $48.5 million of its 4% convertible subordinated notes due 2007 during 2001 and is looking for opportunities to repurchase more.

The company disclosed the buybacks in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, saying they were made at market prices. The company recorded an extraordinary gain of $9.4 million, less income taxes of $3.8 million.

The Hillsboro, Ore. communications component maker issued $345 million of the convertibles in February and March 2000. As of Dec. 31, 2001, it had $296.5 million of the securities outstanding.
