Tribune net income improves to $48.58 million for month ended June 24

Pittsburgh, July 24 - Tribune Co. reported net income of $48.58 million for the period of May 21 to June 24 on $319.79 million in total revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Those figures showed improvement from the $27.29 million of net income posted for the period of April 23 to May 20 on $246.29 million in total revenues.

Tribune also reported an operating profit of $67.09 million for the latest period, up from $39.94 million during the previous period.

Cash and cash equivalents were $1,615,000,000 as of June 24, up from $1.53 billion as of May 20.

Tribune, a Chicago-based media company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13141.
