Tribune operating profit rises to $29.9 million for March; revenue up

Wilmington, Del., April 25 - Tribune Co. reported an operating profit of $29.93 million for the period from Feb. 27 through March 25, up from $17.38 million in February, according to the company's monthly operating report filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company also reported total revenue of $230.7 million, compared to $219.07 million in the previous reporting period.

Net income also rose in March, to $34.2 million from $7.12 million.

Tribune reported cash and cash equivalents of $1.46 billion as of March 25, up from $1.41 billion on Feb. 26.

Tribune, a Chicago-based media company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13141.
