Tribune operating profit climbs to $17.38 million in February period

Pittsburgh, March 27 - Tribune Co. reported operating profits of $17.38 million for the period of Jan. 30 to Feb. 26 on $219.07 million of total revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The figures compared to $7.36 million of operating profits posted for the period of Dec. 26 to Jan. 29 on $255.75 million of total revenues.

The net income for the February period was $7.12 million, improving from a $2.12 million net loss for the January period.

The company reported cash and cash equivalents of $1.411 billion as of Feb. 26, up from $1.349 billion at Jan. 29.

Tribune, a Chicago-based media company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13141.
