Tribune reports $19.2 million operating profit for Aug. 1 to Aug. 28

Pittsburgh, Sept. 27 - Tribune Co. reported operating profits of $19.2 million for the period of Aug. 1 to Aug. 28 on $220.97 million of total revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

In comparison, Tribune posted operating profits of $10.6 million for the period of June 27 to July 31 on total revenue of $257.7 million.

Net income for the August period was $9.57 million, improving from $2.6 million of net income for the July period.

The company reported cash and cash equivalents of $1.23 billion at Aug. 28, compared with $1.2 billion at July 31.

Tribune, a Chicago-based media company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13141.
