Tribune profit shrinks to $9.28 million for Dec. 27 to Jan. 30

Pittsburgh, March 1 - Tribune Co. reported a $9.28 million operating profit for the period of Dec. 27 to Jan. 30 on $259.33 million in total revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The figures showed a decline from the $59.23 million operating profit posted for the period of Nov. 22 to Dec. 26 on $329.19 million of total revenues.

The net loss for the January period was $8.92 million, compared with $43.34 million of net income for the December period.

The company had $1.092 billion in cash and cash equivalents at Jan. 30, up from $1.058 billion at Dec. 26.

Tribune, a Chicago-based media company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13141.
