Tribune voting deadline on hold; emergence still expected by year end

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 17 - Tribune Co.'s Aug. 20 deadline for voting on its restructuring plan was suspended, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

New deadlines for voting and other matters will be determined by the court.

"As we said in our motion requesting the extension of time, we remain engaged in 'vigorous negotiations' with our creditor groups," a Tribune spokesperson said.

"We are committed to trying to emerge from Chapter 11 by the end of the year," said the spokesperson.

As previously reported, the court extended the deadline for voting on Tribune's plan to Aug. 20 from Aug. 4 and rescheduled the confirmation hearing to Oct. 4 from Aug. 30.

Tribune, a Chicago-based media company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8, 2008 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13141.
