Tribune examiner asks court to extend report deadline to July 27

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, June 23 - Tribune Co.'s court-appointed examiner has requested an extension to the deadline for filing his report to July 27 from July 12, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Examiner Kenneth N. Klee said he will need to conduct more witness interviews than originally expected in connection with his investigation, and these interviews will not be completed until the first week of July at the earliest.

After the interviews, the examiner said he will need to review the results and incorporate them into the report.

As previously reported, Tribune agreed in April to the appointment of an examiner to investigate potential claims stemming from a 2007 leveraged buyout.

Tribune, a Chicago-based media company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13141.
