Tribune shows $43.42 million operating profit for Aug. 30 to Sept. 26

Savannah, Ga., Oct. 26 - Tribune Co. reported a $43.42 million operating profit for the period of Aug. 30 to Sept. 26 on $265.45 million in total revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The figures compared with a $26 million operating profit for the period of Aug. 2 to Aug. 29 on $230.18 million in total revenues.

Net income for the September period was $131.42 million, up from net income of $14.85 million for the August period.

The company had $1.65 billion of cash and cash equivalents at the end of the September period, compared with $929.14 million at Aug. 30.

Tribune, a Chicago-based media company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13141.
