Tribune posts $4.73 million operating loss for period of Dec. 29 to Feb. 1

Pittsburgh, March 4 - Tribune Co. reported a $4.73 million operating loss for the period of Dec. 29 to Feb. 1 on $287.23 million in total revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The figures showed improvement over the $5.29 million operating loss posted for the period of Dec. 8 to Dec. 28 on $212.97 million in total revenues.

The net income for the latest period was $5.91 million, up from a $947.14 million net loss for the previous period.

The company had $789.95 million in cash and cash equivalents as of Feb. 1, compared with $561.71 million at Dec. 28.

Tribune, a Chicago-based media company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13141.
