Tribune seeks four-month exclusivity extension to avoid disruption

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Nov. 16 - Tribune Co. requested an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company wants to extend its exclusive plan-filing period to March 31 from Nov. 30 and the solicitation period to May 31, 2010 from Jan. 29.

According to the motion, the extension will allow the company to develop a plan and file it in the near future without disruption of competing plans or litigation.

A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 1.

Tribune, a Chicago-based media company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-13141.
