Triad stockholders OK deal with Community Health Systems

Charlotte, N.C., June 12 - Triad Hospitals, Inc.'s shareholders approved the merger of the company with and into a wholly owned subsidiary of Community Health Systems, Inc., which gives Triad stockholders $54 per share.

The companies announced the agreement on March 19 and the transaction is slated to close in the third quarter, a company news release stated.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems operates general acute care hospitals in non-urban communities.

Triad, based in Plano, Texas, owns and manages hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.
