Fitch to rate Travelers notes A

Fitch Ratings said it expects to assign an A rating to Travelers Cos., Inc.'s planned issuance of $500 million of 10-year senior unsecured notes.

The outlook is stable.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

The A rating reflects the company's solid earnings and cash flow profile, moderate financial leverage and strong competitive positioning in most major commercial and personal lines, the agency said.

Partially offsetting these positives is the company's exposure to cyclical pricing conditions in its key markets, the agency noted.
