Transamerica Funds plans to launch three new funds

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Feb. 10 - Transamerica Funds announced it is planning to launch three new funds, according to an N-1A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The funds will launch with class A, class C and class I shares. The ticker symbols have not yet been determined.

The Transamerica Emerging Markets Equity fund will seek long-term capital appreciation by investing at least 80% of its net assets in equity securities of issuers economically tied to one or more emerging countries.

The portfolio managers will be Frank Feng, Stacey R. Nutt, David J. Pavan, Ed Wagner and Todd N. Wolter.

Class A shares will be subject to a 5.5% maximum sales charge. Class C shares will be subject to a maximum deferred sales charge. There are no other shareholder fees.

Management fees have not yet been determined, but the adviser has arranged for a fee waiver to limit total operating expenses to 1.6%, excluding 12b-1 fees, acquired fund fees, interest, taxes, commissions, short sales expenses and dividends and extraordinary expenses.

The Transamerica Large Cap Growth fund will seek long-term capital appreciation by investing at least 80% of its net assets in equity securities of large cap companies. The fund will invest primarily in common stocks and depositary receipts.

The portfolio managers will be James P. Haynie and Mark Stoeckle.

The shareholder fees and management fees are the same as for the Emerging Markets Equity, with the exception of the fee waiver agreement, which will limit total operating expenses to 0.95% rather than 1.6%.

The Transamerica Small Cap Value fund will seek capital appreciation by investing at least 80% of its net assets in equity securities of small companies.

The portfolio managers will be Alvin W. Marley and Andrew Absler.

Management fees have not yet been determined. There is a fee waiver, which will limit the fund's total operating expenses to 1.15%. Shareholder fees were not covered in the filing.

St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Transamerica Asset Management, Inc. will serve as the funds' investment adviser.
