THQ asks court to extend exclusive plan voting period through Aug. 16

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 29 - THQ, Inc. is seeking an extension through Aug. 16 of its exclusive period for soliciting votes on its plan of liquidation, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The exclusive solicitation period is currently scheduled to expire on June 17.

THQ's disclosure statement hearing is scheduled for May 30, and the plan confirmation hearing is set for July 16 with votes due July 2, the motion said.

The company said it cannot begin to solicit votes until the disclosure statement is approved by the court.

As a result, THQ said the current June 17 deadline does not give it enough time to solicit votes or to give parties in interest leeway to hold plan discussions "under the mutually protective umbrella of exclusivity."

A hearing is scheduled for June 19.

THQ, a developer and publisher of video games based in Agoura Hills, Calif., filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 19. Its Chapter 11 case number is 12-13398.
