Thornburg Mortgage looks to change name to TMST

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., July 6 - Thornburg Mortgage, Inc. requested court approval to change its name to TMST, Inc., as requested by Thornburg Mortgage Advisory Corp., according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland.

According to the filing, TMAC has the right to request that the company legally change its name to not include the word "Thornburg" under an amended and restated management agreement signed in January 2009.

Thornburg is derived from Garrett Thornburg, the principal owner of TMAC and chairman of the board of Thornburg.

Thornburg, a Santa Fe, N.M., lender specializing in jumbo mortgages, filed for bankruptcy on May 1. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-17787.
