Third Avenue Management names Yang Lie director of research

Charlotte, N.C., April 25 - Third Avenue Management LLC promoted Yang Lie, a principal of the firm, to the newly created position of director of research. She will evaluate and track investment opportunities and maintain client reporting standards.

Lie, a member of the investment team for more than 10 years, will report to Martin Whitman and Curtis Jensen, Third Avenue's co-chief investment officers.

"We have taken great care to control the growth of our assets over the past several years and expanded our team accordingly," Jensen said in a company news release.

"At this time, we feel it prudent to charge a senior member of our team with the responsibility of preserving the integrity of our research process and approach."

Prior to joining the New York-based investment advisory firm, Lie was an equity analyst with Prudential Securities.
