Thacher Proffitt promotes Smith to partner

Pittsburgh, May 14 - Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP has promoted distressed assets group member E. Lee Smith to partner, according to a news release.

The promotion will take effect July 1.

According to the release, Smith, who is a counsel with the firm, focuses on transactional aspects of commercial lending, loan restructuring and bankruptcy matters. He has been in practice for 22 years.

Smith was recently a panelist on the topic of "Opportunities in Distressed Assets" at the Thacher Proffitt Legal Update Seminar.

Smith received his law degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law and his bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University, cum laude.

He is admitted to practice in New York, Maine and the U.S. District Courts, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the District of Maine.

Thacher Proffitt is a law firm with offices in New York, Washington, D.C., White Plains, N.Y., and Summit, N.J.
