Teva to sell generic Zocor; Dr. Reddy's to sell generic Proscar, Zocor

Tampa, Fla., June 23 - Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has received final approval from the Food and Drug Administration to market generic versions of Merck's Zocor (Simvastatin) tablets 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg.

The company said it has started shipment of the AB-rated Simvastatin tablets, indicated for the treatment of high cholesterol.

Further, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories has received approval to market Zocor 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg and 80 mg, as well as Proscar tablets 5 mg (finasteride).

The specific financial terms and conditions of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Teva, based in Jerusalem, Israel, is a generic pharmaceutical company.

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories is a global pharmaceutical company based in Hyderabad, India.
