North Carolina power agency may redeem bonds via proposed bond sale

By Ashley Montgomery

Kansas City, Kan., Sept. 13 - North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency is in talks with a third party about the possibility of selling some of its generation assets, proceeds of which may be used to redeem the agency's power system revenue bonds, according to a notice.

Proceeds might also be used to defease the bonds in whole or in part.

The company said it is expecting a response from the third party regarding the value of the assets and third party's interest in those assets.
