University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina plans to defease bonds

Kansas City, Kan., March 16 - University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, Inc., known as Vidant Health, announced its intention to defease part or all of three series of its bonds issued by the North Carolina Medical Care Commission.

According to a notice, the following bonds will be affected:

• Series 1998A Pitt County Memorial Hospital revenue bonds;

• Series 2008C health-care facilities revenue refunding bonds; and

• Series 2008E1 and 2008E-2 health-care facilities revenue refunding bonds.

Vidant Health plans to refund the bonds following a North Carolina Medical Care Commission issue of revenue refunding bonds. The bonds are expected to be issued by May 15 on behalf of Vidant Health.
