Sprint Nextel to redeem Nextel Communications' 5.95%, 7 3/8% notes

Minneapolis, Nov. 9 - Sprint Nextel Corp. plans to redeem a portion of its Nextel Communications, Inc. 5.95% notes due 2014 with an aggregate principal amount of $1,169,886,500, according to a press release.

The company also intends to redeem the remaining portion of its Nextel Communications 7 3/8% notes due 2015 with an aggregate principal amount of $1,109,960,000.

The notes will be redeemed at par plus accrued interest on Nov. 19.

Sprint Nextel is an Overland Park, Kan.-based telecommunications company. Nextel Communications is a Reston, Va.-based wireless communications provider.
