Massachusetts defeases, calls 1998B, 2000A federal highway grant bonds

Madison, Wis., Jan. 5 - The Commonwealth of Massachusetts said that it defeased and will redeem a portion of its federal highway grant anticipation notes, 1998 series B and 2000 series A.

The 2000A notes and some of the defeased 1998B notes will be redeemed on Feb. 1 at par plus accrued interest.

To be redeemed are the following 1998B bonds:

• $8.605 million of bonds due June 15, 2011;

• $5 million of bonds due June 15, 2011;

• $15.03 million of bonds due Dec. 15, 2011;

• $15.48 million of bonds due Dec. 15, 2012;

• $13.325 million of bonds due June 15, 2013;

• $5 million of bonds due June 15, 2013; and

• $10 million of bonds due June 15, 2014.

To be redeemed are the following 2000A bonds:

• $29.66 million of bonds due June 15, 2011;

• $29.51 million of bonds due Dec. 15, 2011;

• $1 million of bonds due Dec. 15, 2011;

• $31.38 million of bonds due June 15, 2012;

• $3.665 million of bonds due Dec. 15, 2012;

• $33.2 million of bonds due June 15, 2013;

• $6.755 million of bonds due Dec. 15, 2013; and

• $10 million of bonds due June 15, 2015.

The issuer also defeased the following 1998B bonds:

• $35.35 million of bonds due Dec. 15, 2012;

• $20 million of bonds due June 15, 2013;

• $34.74 million of bonds due Dec. 15, 2013;

• $36.68 million of bonds due Dec. 15, 2014;

• $36.68 million of bonds due June 15, 2015; and

• $16.555 million of bonds due June 15, 2012.
