Avista bought $17 million of its pollution control bonds in December

Chicago, Feb. 18 - Avista Corp. said it purchased $17 million of its pollution control bonds in December.

The company is planning to refund these bonds in 2010 along with $66.7 million of its pollution control bonds it purchased in December 2008, subject to market conditions, according to an earnings release for the fourth quarter and the year ended Dec. 31.

The issuer is a Spokane, Wash.-based energy company.
