Atmel buys back $81 million accreted value of 0% convertibles

New York, Dec. 7 - Atmel Corp. bought back $81 million accreted value of its zero-coupon convertible notes due 2021 from Dec. 1 to 6.

The company paid $81.3 million including commissions for the securities, according to an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

All the convertibles were bought in private transactions.

Before the repurchases, the San Jose, Calif., semiconductor company had $221 million accreted value of the notes outstanding, using the value at Sept. 30.
