Calpine details $263.5 million note buybacks in third quarter

New York, Nov. 9 - Calpine Corp. released details on the $263.5 million principal amount of senior notes that it repurchased in the third quarter, ending Sept. 30.

The San Jose, Calif., power company paid a total of $233.9 million in cash plus accrued interest for the debt, according to a 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

More than half the repurchases were made up of $138.895 million of 9 5/8% senior notes due 2014, bought back at par.

Calpine also bought back:

* $4 million of its 8¼% notes due 2005 for $3.985 million;

* $10.005 million of its 10½% notes due 2006 for $9.671 million;

* $8.051 million of its 7 5/8% notes due 2006 for $7.648 million;

* $2 million of its 8¾% notes due 2007 for $1.570 million;

* $53.5 million of its 7 7/8% notes due 2008 for $39.599 million;

* $41 million of its 8½% notes due 2008 for $28.632 million; and

* $6 million of its 7¾% notes due 2009 for $3.900 million.
