Imax retires further 7 7/8% notes

New York, Aug. 1 - IMAX Corp. said it retired more of its 7 7/8% senior notes due December 2005.

During July the Toronto-based movie technology company retired $5.0 million of the notes in exchange for 556,338 shares at an average price of $9.17 per share, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The latest exchanges follow similar transactions during June in which it exchanged $25.0 million of its senior notes for 3,237,845 shares at an average price of $7.74 per share. That total is up from the $22 million of exchanges disclosed by IMAX on June 19.

At June 30, IMAX had $175 million of the notes outstanding.
