Tecumseh selects new nominee for election to board, replacing Redmond

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., May 8 - Tecumseh Products Co.'s board of directors approved the nomination of William Barker to replace William E. Redmond Jr. on its slate of candidates for election at the 2009 annual meeting.

According to Tecumseh, Redmond asked to be withdrawn from the slate due to time constraints. He is president, chief executive officer and director of GenTek Inc.; president of GenTek subsidiary GT Technologies; chairman of the restructuring committee of Eddie Bauer Holdings Inc.; and a recent addition to the board of Mark IV Industries.

Tecumseh said that Kent Herrick and Steven Lebowski, who are running as part of a competing slate of directors, voted against Barker's nomination.

Barker is the former group director, beverage cans, of Rexam plc and the former president and CEO of Rexam Beverage Cans Americas.

Tecumseh manufactures compressors and other products. The company is located in Tecumseh, Mich.
