TCW hires Newman, Sweeney as fixed-income senior vice presidents

By Tali Rackner

Norfolk, Va., Jan. 20 – TCW Group announced that Melinda Newman and Drew Sweeney have joined the firm’s fixed-income team as senior vice presidents, according to a press release.

Both are based in TCW’s Los Angeles headquarters.

“We are pleased to be adding senior talent to our long-tenured fixed income team,” TCW group managing director and co-director of fixed-income Laird Landmann said in the release. “Credit is an increasingly important element in the overall market as we continue to see signs that we are in the later stages of the credit cycle. Both Melinda and Drew bring deep experience to TCW, and we look forward to their contributions.”

Newman serves as a senior analyst where she is responsible for evaluating and making investment recommendations regarding high-yield and investment-grade credits. She reports to Jamie Farnham, director of credit research. Before joining TCW, Newman was the head of corporate credit research for fixed income at First Pacific Advisors, LLC.

Sweeney is a senior bank loan trader. He reports to Jerry Cudzil, head of U.S. credit trading. Before TCW, Sweeney was the bank loan portfolio manager for Bradford & Marzec, LLC, where he served on the investment committee and managed loan strategies for both total return and CLO accounts.

TCW is a Los Angeles-based asset management firm that specializes in fixed-income, world equity and alternative markets.
