Cephalon buys back $7 million convertibles

New York, May 15 - Cephalon, Inc. said it bought back $7 million of its 5.25% convertible subordinated notes due May 2006 during April.

The West Chester, Pa. biopharmaceutical company bought the securities in the open market at par, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Cephalon said it may make further repurchases for cash or stock.

Basis100 sets $720 as maximum price for convertibles repurchases

New York, May 14 - Basis100 Inc. set $720 per $1,000 principal amount as the maximum price it will pay to buy back its 6% convertible unsecured debentures due Dec. 30, 2006.

It will also put funds from the sale of its Canadian Lending Solutions Business in escrow to fund the buybacks.

Basis100 said on May 12 that it plans to buy back up to $2 million of the convertibles.

The Toronto business solutions provider said the repurchases may occur during the next 12 months. It currently has $20 million of the convertibles outstanding.

Basis100 revealed its plans in Normal Course Issuer Bid announcements with the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Talk America buys back $7.1 million 12% notes, repays $7.1 million 8% convertibles

New York, May 15 - Talk America said it bought back $7.1 million principal amount of its 12% senior subordinated notes due 2007 and in connection with the transaction will have prepaid $7.1 million of its 8% secured convertible notes due 2006.

The 12% notes were bought back in the open market.

The Reston, Va. communications company said it will record a non-cash gain of $0.3 million for the purchase of the 12% notes.

Its total debt is now $73.7 million.
