Surya hopes to issue up to Rs. 1 billion in convertibles

Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 29 - Surya Pharmaceutical Ltd. informed the Bombay Stock Exchange at a board of directors meeting on Jan. 29 that it resolved to issue up to Rs. 1 billion in foreign currency convertible bonds.

The company also is considering issuing Global Depositary Receipts and American Depositary Receipts.

Based in Chandigarh, India, Surya is a pharmaceutical company focused on the development of antibiotic drugs.
