Solyndra names Suntech Power Holdings as defendant in antitrust suit

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 18 - Solyndra LLC has named Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. as a defendant in an antitrust lawsuit, according to a 6-K filed Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Suntech said it strongly disputes the lawsuit allegations and intends to fight them.

As previously reported, Solyndra has filed a $1.5 billion anti-trust lawsuit in federal court in California against a group of Chinese companies.

Solyndra contends that the Chinese companies sought to manipulate the solar panel market by flooding it with underpriced products that competitors could not match.

Solyndra is a Fremont, Calif.-based manufacturer of cylindrical solar photovoltaic systems for large industrial and commercial rooftops. The company filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 6, 2011 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Its Chapter 11 case number is 11-12799.
