Sun Life to launch pooled fund with private fixed-income focus

New York, March 25 - Sun Life Investment Management Inc. announced that it will soon introduce three pooled funds, including one with a focus on private fixed income.

The other funds will concentrate on commercial mortgages and real estate assets, and all will be available starting April 1, according to a press release.

The company said that the funds are being launched with portfolios of assets totaling about C$650 million contributed by Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada and Sun Life Financial Inc.

The funds will be offered for sale to Canadian institutional investors who qualify as "permitted clients" under securities legislation, the release noted.

The Sun Life Private Fixed Income Plus Fund will invest primarily in a diverse portfolio of private fixed-income and public fixed-income assets. The fund has been seeded with private fixed-income investments and cash totaling about C$150 million at March 19, the company stated.

Sun Life is a financial services company based in Toronto.
