By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 21 – SunEdison, Inc. and TerraForm Power, Inc. secured financing totaling £70 million from Santander Global Banking and Markets and Bayerische Landesbank to build five large-scale solar farms in the United Kingdom.

Santander and Bayerische Landesbank each provided a £35 million two-year non-recourse bridge loan.

SunEdison has begun construction on all five sites and will complete them in the first quarter of 2015, according to a news release.

Santander and Bayerische Landesbank acted as arrangers, and Santander UK acted as agent.

SunEdison manufactures solar technology and develops, finances, installs and operates distributed solar power plants. Its solar energy headquarters is located in Belmont, Calif.

TerraForm is a clean power company based in Beltsville, Md.
