Sterne Agee expands investment grade group with 10 hires from Citadel

By Ashley Montgomery

Kansas City, Kan., Oct. 12 - Sterne Agee announced that it has hired 10 people from Citadel Securities to expand its investment grade operation.

Jon Walker, Andrew Rochat and Scott Shiffman will lead the expansion of the company's investment grade sales platform with Mike Rand, Andrew Simons, John Finnegan, Mac Sutherland, Helen Shannon, Bobby Treacy and Allen Oppici filling sales and trading roles, according to a news release.

"The firm is excited for the opportunity to enhance credit research and distribution capabilities for our clients. The chance to add a team with this much talent and experience will benefit our clients across the board," said Eric Needleman, senior managing director and head of credit, in the release.

"This addition will round out our investment grade team, strengthening the foundation we've built for our research and strategy led process. It complements the platform in place across our rates and credit business where we are now involved in nine different products," said Cary Cooper, executive managing director and head of fixed income, in the release.

Rochat, Walker and Shiffman, all formerly of Lehman Brothers Investment Grade Group, have experience working together as a team. Shiffman has focused heavily on technology, media and telecom.

Sterne Agee is a privately owned investment banking firm based in Birmingham, Ala.
