SSE updates financing framework to combine green, sustainability bonds

By Mary-Katherine Stinson

Lexington, Ky., Aug. 23 – SSE plc published an updated sustainability financing framework which combines its green bond and sustainability-linked bond frameworks, according to a notice.

The framework applies also to green loans, sustainability-linked loans and any other use of proceeds or general corporate purpose instrument such as hybrid bonds, convertible bonds, commercial paper, derivatives instruments or other forms of financial instrument.

Green projects eligible under this framework comply with the technical screening criteria defined as making a substantial contribution to climate change mitigation.

The framework along with DNV’s opinion can be found at https://www.sse.com/SustainabilityFinancingFramework.

SSE said it is one of the largest U.K. issuers of green bonds having raised £2.5 billion since 2017.

SSE is an energy company based in Perth, Scotland.
