PerkinElmer acquires Spectral Genomics

New York, May 1 - PerkinElmer, Inc. said it acquired the assets of Spectral Genomics, Inc.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Spectral Genomics is a developer of molecular karyotyping technology used to evaluate chromosomal abnormalities related to the study of cancer and pre- and post-natal genetic disorders.

"Spectral Genomics' innovative technologies are highly complementary to our current molecular medicine and genetic screening offerings," said Robert F. Friel, president of PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences, in a news release.

Boston-based PerkinElmer is a global technology company specializing in health sciences and photonics.
