By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., June 6 - Specialized Health Products International, Inc. shareholders "overwhelmingly approved" the company's merger with C.R. Bard, Inc. at a special meeting on June 5.

According to a company news release, 90% of the votes cast were in favor of the deal.

With the acquisition now complete, C.R. Bard said it will immediately begin global marketing of the acquired line of vascular access products.

In March, C.R. Bard, a Murray Hill, N.J., medical technology company, announced it would acquire all the outstanding shares of Specialized Health Products for $1 per share in cash for a total of approximately $68 million.

Specialized Health Products is a medical products company based in Bountiful, Utah.
