S&P Dow Jones hires Mounts to lead global research and development

By Wendy Van Sickle

Columbus, Ohio, Oct. 13 – S&P Dow Jones Indices has appointed Chuck Mounts as its global head of research and development, according to a news release.

Mounts will lead S&P Dow Jones’ multi-asset, global research efforts, focusing on providing clients with deeper market insights, multi-asset class research coverage and original market intelligence and analysis, according to the release. He will concentrate on the credit markets where S&P Dow Jones has been active in expanding, most recently with the launch of the S&P 500 Bond index.

Mounts joins from BIJA Capital Management, where he was responsible for the management, business development, marketing and investor relations for a start-up hedge fund.

Previously, he was employed by Knight Capital Group, where he was managing director and head of research and global financials/sovereign analysis, covering sovereigns and global financials, developing trade ideas and portfolio recommendations in cash and CDS markets.

Mounts has also been employed by UBS Investment Bank, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

He received a master of public policy degree from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in international relations and history from Claremont McKenna College.

“Our appointment of Chuck as head of R&D will be a huge boost to our global expansion of our fixed income index business given his extensive and broad range of credit markets experience,” Alex Matturri, chief executive officer of S&P Dow Jones, said in the release. “His knowledge of the overall financial markets, equities and commodities asset classes, and considerable research and development experience, will energetically and vigorously position S&P DJI well as we continue to proactively engage the markets and our clients with independent, third party research.”

S&P Dow Jones is part of McGraw Hill Financial, based in New York City.
