GS Finance plans leveraged index-linked notes tied to S&P

Olympia, Wash., Aug. 22 – GS Finance Corp. plans to price 0% leveraged index-linked notes due Oct. 1, 2020 to the S&P 500 index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The notes are guaranteed by Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
If the index return is positive, the payout at maturity will be par plus 4 times the index return, capped at $1,120 per $1,000 of notes.
If the return is zero or negative, the payout will be par plus the return of the index will full exposure to the decline.
Goldman Sachs & Co. is the underwriter.
The notes will price Aug. 26.
The Cusip number is 40056X5H5.
