RBC plans six-year buffered enhanced return notes tied to S&P 500

Chicago, Dec. 16 – Royal Bank of Canada plans to price buffered enhanced return notes due Dec. 30, 2022 linked to the S&P 500 index, according to an FWP filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The payout at maturity will be par plus 108% to 116% of any index gain, with the exact participation rate to be set at pricing.

Investors will receive par if the index falls by up to 20% and will be fully exposed to any losses beyond 20%.

RBC Capital Markets, LLC is the underwriter.

The notes will price on Dec. 27 and settle on Dec. 30.

The Cusip number is 78012KWJ2.
