New Issue: Goldman Sachs prices $4.01 million buffered annual reset coupon notes linked to S&P 500

Tacoma, Wash., Aug. 31 - Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. priced $4.01 million of buffered annual reset coupon notes due Sept. 1, 2017 linked to the S&P 500 index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Interest is payable annually. If the index's closing level on an annual observation date is greater than or equal to its closing level on the preceding annual observation date, the coupon will be 6.5%. Otherwise, the coupon will be 3%.

The payout at maturity will be par unless the index declines by more than 20%, in which case investors will lose 1% for every 1% that it declines beyond 20%.

Goldman Sachs & Co. is the underwriter.
