New Issue: HSBC prices $2 million callable contingent income barrier notes on indexes, ETF

By Wendy Van Sickle

Columbus, Ohio, June 18 – HSBC USA Inc. priced $2 million of callable contingent income barrier notes due Aug. 26, 2022 linked to the S&P 500 index, the Russell 2000 index and the VanEck Vectors Gold Miners ETF, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The notes will pay a contingent monthly coupon at an annualized rate of 10.5% if each underlying closes at or above the coupon trigger level, 60% of the initial level, on the observation date for that month.

The notes will be callable at par plus any coupon due on any quarterly call observation date after six months.

If the notes are not called and each underlying finishes at or above its initial level or no underlying has ever closed below the 60% barrier level, the payout at maturity will be par plus the final coupon, if any. Otherwise, investors will lose 1% for each 1% decline of the least-performing underlying from its initial level.
