Gamco buys shares of EnergySouth ahead of merger with Sempra Energy

Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 8 - Gamco Asset Management Inc. bought 158,496 shares of EnergySouth, Inc. between June 13 and Aug. 7 priced from $43.01 to $60.74 each.

The investor and its affiliates beneficially own 484,627 shares, or 5.98%, of the Mobile, Ala.-based holding company, a schedule 13D filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission noted.

It was previously reported in July that Sempra Energy agreed to acquire EnergySouth for $61.50 per share, or a total of $510 million in cash.

Sempra Pipelines & Storage operates Liberty Gas Storage, an underground natural gas storage facility in Calcasieu Parish, La. Sempra Energy, based in San Diego, is a Fortune 500 energy services holding company.
